Our outsole is more flexible than any human foot.

With an outsole this flexible, what limits flexibility is not the outsole, but the leather on the shoe upper. In order for Carets to look like traditional fancy dress shoes, we have to use a leather that's more structured.
Why not use a softer leather? In the very first version of our shoes, we used the softest leather we could find. Unfortunately, this made the shoes look droopy, and therefore not dressy.
We've since found a perfect balance between structure and softness.
