Use & Care
General Instructions for All Footwear
- Do not roll them into a ball (or a taco). Test flexibility by wearing them.
- Your shoes are pre-laced using the patented Double Helix Method. It’s easier to tighten and loosen, reduces wear and tear, and looks stylishly unique. Learn more >
- We recommend tying your laces with the “Berluti Knot.” If done with elastic laces, your shoes become slip-ons. Here’s how >
- Tight fit? Some models have removable inserts. Try wearing without them.
- Is the midfoot or heel a bit loose? Try tongue pads or heel grips. They won’t void our return policy.
- Avoid hazards such as mud, etc.
- Clean off hazards ASAP.
- Place wood trees inside, once you’ve finished wearing your shoes for the day.
- The shoe tree’s heel does not need to be jammed all the way down and in. The important thing is that the tree’s toe fills in the shoe’s toe.
- Give your shoes at least a day to rest and air out between wears.
- Wet shoes? Let them dry out slowly (without heat) and completely, before wearing again.

- When you’re a week or two away from a big event where you want to look your absolute best (presentations, interviews, weddings, etc.), take them back to the pros.
Specific Instructions for Safety Boots
- Please check with your employer that these boots meet all their requirements.
- These boots are water-resistant (NOT waterproof), made for Firm Ground.
- For wet conditions and Soft Ground, please wear other boots made for those.
- This Nubuck leather is made waterproof from the tannery. Out of the box, it does not need additional protective product.
- If the Nubuck loses waterproofing over time, apply products made for Nubuck & Suede (NOT products for Smooth Leather).
- All products will darken Nubuck and affect the nap somewhat. Test a small hidden spot first, and make sure you like the new look, before applying to the full boot.
- Damaged boots? For your safety, switch to undamaged boots ASAP.
